Acupressure – Body

Acupressure – Body

Acupressure is the same as acupuncture but without the use of needles.  It stimulates and balances the body’s energy (qi) that is continuously circulating throughout the body, feeding and nourishing organs, muscles, hormones, and all other bodily systems.

If energy is a new concept to you, let me explain.  A large proportion of our body is made up of a life force energy (also known as vitality, essence and qi).  This energy is what gives life to our physical body, in plants it’s the invisible driving force that makes a seed germinate into a little sprout.  No energy no life!

This energy is constantly flowing through our bodies lubricating each cell as it travels. We have 12 main energy pathways (meridians) travelling throughout the body, you may like to think of it in the way an artery transports blood, a meridian transports energy.  Meridians affect every organ and every physiological system, including the immune, nervous, endocrine, circulatory, respiratory, digestive, skeletal, muscular, and lymphatic systems.

The meridians also related to specific emotion, virtues and behavioural patterns.  This brings us back to “body affects the mind and the mind affects the body – always”

When there is a disruption to the natural energy flow, pain, illness, or emotional upsets occur.  How does the energy get disrupted or out of balance in the first place?  LIFE! Our lives we lead in today’s society is fast, technological driven, and stressful.  Imbalances derive from things such as: injury, emotional stress, trauma, incorrect shallow breathing, negative thinking, diet, and so on.

Acupressure is an important part of the healing process. It is used to release any blockages by redistributing the energy and encourages the free flow of to all meridians. When you have a free flowing energy system, you have overall wellbeing and vitality.

Acupressure is a recognised form of Chinese medicine and has been used for more than 3,000 years in China as a major part of their primary health care system. Acupressure is believed to be the ‘mother of Acupuncture’ as it pre-dates the use of needles to stimulate the body’s energy flow.
