Counselling – Mind

Finding out why a problem has occurred in the first place is extremely important when working to resolve the issue. Many problems arise without us really understand what’s driving them. Mind Body Medicine practitioners are trained to ask the right (seemingly unrelated) questions and facilitate clients to find their own inner wisdom, get answers and move forward.

Kirsten’s counselling sessions are relaxed and informal. She shows a great deal of compassion and understands the stress issues can cause in our lives.

“A problem shared is a problem halved”

The mere act of talking a problem through will bring a sense of instant relief.  Discussing a stressful situation releases it out of your conscious and is less likely to be an auto – loop in your head, also your physical body will feel better as it is holding less stress.

By recognising our mid-set we are able to change, tweak or let go of any thoughts, beliefs and patterns that no longer match who we are.

Once the old has been cleared or adjusted we are able to create new thoughts that support and reflect the true us.

The subconscious is an interesting human mechanism and is responsible for 97% of all our thought process.  Sometimes our subconscious gets a little stuck and holds onto old beliefs from the past (commonly known as “limiting beliefs”).

A very simple example to illustrate would be: A person wants to give up smoking but is finding it extremely difficult. Let’s say when the person started smoking at 14years old they did it to be cool and fit with their friends, which gave them a sense of acknowledgement & acceptance. Now as an adult the subconscious mind associates giving up smoking as a loss of acknowledgement & acceptance and strongly resists. EVEN though consciously they want to quit smoking!
