What is intuition?
Intuition is your internal guidance system, which communicates to you through your feelings. I affectionally call it my shit detector!
It is often described as an inner “knowing”, a gut feeling, instinct, or a felt-sense, which cannot logically be explained.
Intuition’s primary role is to help guide and connect you to your highest good. It understands your true essence and is directly linked to you heart. Intuition knows your hopes, dreams, truth, aspirations and life purpose.
It is a live barometer that works minute-to-minute measuring how connected and in-tune you are with your higher self and therefore your highest good.
Remember feeling good = you’re on the right track. Feeling not so good = your off track a little and may need to re-group.
Does everyone have intuition?
Yes every person has intuition of his or her own. Some people may seem to have stronger intuition than others, but the truth is they are just better listeners. The good news is it’s easy to develop and the more you acknowledge it the louder and clearer it becomes.
Example: How intuition can help in daily life?
Intuition is an invaluable tool that I listen to every single day.
I will use the example of applying for a new job.
1. The mind has a primary role to keep us safe by drawing on logic and past experiences. Ok so you find a job that ticks all the boxes – great remuneration, car spot, close to home, and in a good company. You are thinking yes I’ve lucked out this has to be the right job for me.
2. Intuition has a primary role to guide you to your highest good and always looking after your best interest. You go for the interview and all goes well. The person interviewing you seems to be happy with you and gives the impression you have the job. Only problem is instead of being excited and eager to get the “you’re hired” phone call you have a nagging feeling that something is not quiet right.
How can something be not quite right? on paper its perfect! You fob this feeling off by reminding yourself of all the ticks – remuneration, dedicated car spot, close to home, good company.
You get the phone call and start the job 2 weeks later. You have chosen to ignore your intuition and go for to it!
Soon after taking on the role you may start experiencing:
- A bit of anxiety about going into work
- Sleeping problems even though there are no particular deadlines to meet
- Feeling a bit flat and drained
- You seem to have lost your zest for life
Can you see what has just happened?
Your intuition originally tried to guide you gently away from the job knowing there was another one around the corner better suited to YOU.
However you decided to ignore it, so now your ever-dutiful intuition had to step it up a notch! Yes it got the big guns out – and involved your body.
Your body talks through pain, anxiety, DIS-ease and symptoms.
The moral of the story is try to listen to your intuition closely the first time round, it saves you time, hassle and health in the long run!
Play with it, practise listening to your intuition and body, be gentle with yourself and most importantly trust your inner knowing it can foresee things the logical brain cannot.
